NAKA Prosecuting over Recorded Conversation between Marian K. and Trnka

The National Criminal Agency (NAKA) has started a prosecution in relation to a recorded conversation between the entrepreneur identified due to legal reasons only as Marian K., who faces charges of ordering the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak, and former prosecutor-general Dobroslav Trnka, aktuality.sk website reported on Thursday. According to aktuality.sk, a NAKA investigator started the prosecution on March 19, 2019, over the misuse of a public official's powers. The recording of a conversation between Trnka and Marian K. was acquired by a team investigating the murder of Jan Kuciak, said Police Corps President Milan Lucansky. The recording was preliminarily assessed as not related to the murder. In the recording, Marian K. talks to his long-time friend Trnka as if he were his subordinate and enumerates bribes he allegedly paid him. Trnka, who is still working at the Prosecutor-General's Office, denied ever taking any bribe from Marian K. According to Lucansky, after the assessment the recordings could be used by teams investigating the Gorilla case [a case of an alleged secret service file on ties of systemic corruption between government and businesses leaked online eight years ago - ed.note]
