The Parliament gave its consent to the conclusion of the Canada-European Union Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) on Thursday. According to the Parliament, the agreement is in line with Slovakia's foreign policy interests as well as its international commitments. The agreement was signed on behalf of Slovakia, under reservation of ratification, by Slovakia's Permanent Representative to the EU Peter Javorcik during the meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER II) of individual EU-member states in Brussels on October 26, 2016. On behalf of the EU, the agreement was ceremonially signed during the EU-Canada summit on October 30, 2016 in Brussels.
