Investors in Slovakia a bit more cautious

The expectations of European investors regarding the development of the Slovak economy have slightly deteriorated but a crisis is not on the horizon, according to Markus Halt, spokesman for the Slovak-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. According to a common survey done by the German, Austrian, Swedish and Dutch chambers, half of the respondents evaluate their current situation in Slovakia positively, a decrease of 13 percent as compared to last year. Halt says this reflects 2018 being a successful year, in which companies had quite a large number of orders. In terms of macroeconomic expectations, only every tenth company expects the Slovak economy to be better than last year. "It is quite surprising because, according to official forecasts, the growth of the Slovak economy should be between three and four percent," Halt said.
