First Deputy Prosecutor General recalled

On Friday, the First Deputy Prosecutor-General Peter Šufliarsky was recalled from his position by Prosecutor-General Jaromír Čižnár. Prosecutor-General took this step following accusations of the opposition OLANO movement leader Igor Matovič who revealed at the press conference on Thursday that Šufliarsky exchanged 430 text messages with Marián Kočner in half a year. The controversial entrepreneur Kočner has been charged over the murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fianceé Martina Kušnírová. On Thursday, Šufliarsky acknowledged the communication from 2017 but he insists it does not concern the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fianceé Martina Kušnírová and is proof of the preparation of his own physical liquidation. He says he is willing to publish it.
