Retirement age capped in the Constitution

Retirement age capped in the Constitution

On Thursday, the parliament passed a constitutional bill proposed by Smer-SD deputies, which embeds a retirement age cap of 64 years in the Constitution. 91 deputies voted for the constitutional bill, 37 were against and 15 legislators abstained. The bill will come in force from July of this year. The age of 64 years will be the cap for retiring; however, women will be able to retire earlier, based on how many children they raised. In addition to the retirement age, the Slovak Constitution will also guarantee a minimum wage provision.
