CoE: Slovakia must see anti-corruption measures through

The Council of Europe's anti-corruption monitoring body has stated in a report published on Tuesday that Slovakia has achieved certain improvements in terms of implementing measures aimed at preventing corruption among MPs, judges and prosecutors, but that state authorities should intensify their efforts to see ongoing reforms through. The report stated that six years after the Fourth Round Evaluation Report on Slovakia was adopted, the country has managed to implement only seven of the body's 16 suggestions. It expressed regret that Slovakia has failed to achieve political consensus on attaining greater transparency via changing the nature of the relationship between MPs and third parties, which also concerns lobbyists. The country has also failed to boost the supervision and enforcement of rules for publishing financial information. Slovak authorities will now have to file a report by the end of the year on the measures adopted for implementing recommendations that still haven't been carried out.
