The need for dialogue and closer co-operation among the Visegrad Four group (V4: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) and Benelux countries (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) dominated the agenda of the meeting of their parliamentary chairs. They met on Monday in Piešťany to exchange opinions on various issues - beginning with the main current challenge, which is the fastest possible resolution of Brexit. They also discussed strengthening the role of national parliaments but without curbing the powers of the European Parliament - a topic of great interest within the Benelux - and the EU's enlargement to include countries in the Balkans. The latter is a topic of greater interest within the V4.
