Štefan Harabin files complaint over presidential election

Unsuccessful presidential candidate Štefan Harabin has filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court, as he believes that the first round of the presidential election wasn't held in a constitutional and lawful fashion, TASR press agency reported on Monday. Harabin, who came in third with 14.3 percent of the first round vote, complained about Robert Mistrik giving up the race to support Zuzana Čaputová in the first round. The Constitutional Court, however, does not have the minimum required number of judges to rule on such a complaint at the moment. Nine new judges are to be selected by MPs and the president in the coming months. Lawyer Zuzana Čaputová won the first round with 40.5 percent of vote, advancing to the runoff, slated for March 30, where she will square off against diplomat Maroš Šefčovič who gathered 18.6 percent.
