Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini openly named the option of a premature end to his government last week in Brussels. "It seems to me that we are deviating from our priorities. I cannot imagine this kind of governing without signs of high professionalism and expertise," said Pellegrini. The disagreements came after controversy over the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) began last week. As part of it Slovakia should receive possible US funding, however, the Slovak Defence Ministry led by the junior governing Slovak National Party (SNS) turned it down. "We create an artificial problem, exaggerate it and will talk about it for two weeks and forget other things. I do not like it," said Pellegrini. SNS reacted that it did not care about what Pellegrini was saying. "He became the Prime Minister by coincidence. The opinion of the chair of Smer-SD Robert Fico, which will be presented at the coalition council, is important," wrote SNS in its reaction. The coalition council is planned for Tuesday.
