Around 24,000 new jobs could be created in Slovakia this year, with 70 new investment projects worth a total of €2.7 billion in the making in the country, said Labour and Social Affairs Minister Ján Richter for TA3 TV on Sunday. Opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Jana Kissová challenged Richter by stating that many of the new jobs seemed to be unsustainable in the long term without government support. She also criticized the low added value of these jobs. "Employers have to guarantee sustainability - this is included among the clauses of the project," said Richter. Nevertheless, there are certain doubts as to whether those currently unemployed will be able to meet the criteria for the new jobs, pondered Richter, adding that a key task will be to prepare people for the needs of the market.
