Defence Minister commemorated victims of WWII massacre

The Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš commemorated 74years since the village of Skýcov in southern Slovakia was burned down by German troops in WWII. At the event of laying wreaths at the memorial of its victims, Gajdoš underlined the necessity of such events at times of increasing extremism and intolerance in the society. "It is important not to forget the atrocities of both of the world wars," said the Minister. The village of Skýcov was a seat of many partisan brigades including one consisting of its own citizens. That was why the Nazi troops burned it down on 16th March 1945.
