Delays in judicial proceedings still rank among the main problems, if not the biggest single issue in Slovakia's judiciary, with 212 out of a total of 701 complaints against trial delays decided by the Constitutional Court ruled as justified in 2013, says the Court's spokesperson Anna Pancurová.
“The number of findings in which the Constitutional Court decided that the right to a trial without unnecessary delays had been violated increased slightly from the 201 recorded in 2012, to 212 in 2013”, said the spokesperson, adding that 165 of the rulings involved civil cases, 22 verdicts commercial cases, 14 criminal cases, 9 distrainment cases, and one administrative law case.
