A total of 30 candidates are running for the post of constitutional judge in the new parliamentary vote to be held on 26 March. A number of these were also candidates in the previous vote, in which Parliament did not elect any candidates. The deadline for submitting bids for the post expired on Tuesday (5 March) at 4 p.m. As of Monday only 12 candidates had officially registered for the second vote, prompting President Andrej Kiska to issue a call for candidates to apply. Candidates will subsequently undergo hearings by the Constitutional Committee in Parliament from 21 to 23 March. Candidates will be elected at a parliamentary meeting that begins on 26 March.
