The Slovak Association of Nurses and Midwives (SKSaPA) claimed on Tuesday that this year's salary hikes in health haven't been felt by nurses and midwives across-the-board. According to the association's statement, only one third of Slovak nurses and midwives actually experienced salary hikes. They claimed that promises by Health Minister Andrea Kalavská that salary hikes of 10-16 percent would be given to nurses haven't been met. In its response, the Health Ministry claimed that some health personnel may have already benefited from the hikes in the past year. The ministry stated that the coefficients governing the basic salaries of nurses either with or without specialisation, and with or without second-level university degrees, had been raised significantly.
