The financial group J&T is facing a problem in Greece. Athens is investigating the privatization of a Greek gambling company OPAP, in which these Slovak financiers have links to.
J&T together with their Czech partners own a Cypriot company Emma Delta, which bought a third in the betting company from the Greek government. The Financial Times daily reports that the transaction is showing signs of obscurity and the inspectors are scrutinizing its transparency and potential conflicts of interests. The Slovak business daily Hospodarske Noviny claims that J&T has invested around €31 million in the Cypriot company. J&T is declining to comment on the case.
