End of February exceedingly warm

Record temperatures on the final day of February were measured due to warm and sunny weather in many locations in Slovakia, including, for instance, 20.2 degrees Celsius in Hurbanovo (Nitra region), informed climatologist Pavol Fasko of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Office. "Only in three instances have temperatures over 20 degrees been measured in Slovakia during the winter, i.e. between December and February," claimed Fasko. The first time was 20.2 degrees in Bratislava on January 29, 2002, then 20.2 degrees in Moravsky Svaty Jan (Trnava region) on February 25, 2008 and, finally, 20.3 degrees at Bratislava airport on February 22, 2016. Fasko pointed out that all of these temperatures occurred in winters during the 21st century, indicating the impact of global warming.
