Róbert Mistrík has forfeited his presidential candidacy in favour of Zuzana Čaputová. He announced his decision on Tuesday, citing the results of opinion polls to be released in upcoming days which show Čaputová ahead of him. The opposition party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), who supported Mistrík, has followed suit. Čaputová has the support of the non-parliamentary parties Progressive Slovakia and Spolu (Together). "I appreciate the decision. It is not automatic that the support of his voters moves to me, I will have to work for their trust," she said. The first round of the presidential election will be held on Saturday, March 16.
