People more often use contactless payment compared to using PIN codes. Slovaks paid with cards almost 563 million times last year. Out of these payments, 59 percent were contactless. This payment method is comfortable, however, cybercriminals may steal card data within a certain distance, without the victim realizing this. It seems that card issuers and banks have coped with the transition to contactless payments well. "Fraud offences take place also today, but to a lesser extent compared to the past," Tomas Kmit from VUB banka says. Currently, about 76% of the population of Slovakia uses a payment card, whether regularly or sporadically. The share of those who do not use cash when doing regular shopping during a working week and at the same time do not need to carry cash with them is about 3% of Slovakia's population, shows a survey by Go4insight.
