Today marks the one-year anniversary since the murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová. The two young people were killed on 21February 2018, in their home in Velká Mača. The public only learnt about the murder a few days later, on February 26. Following the initial reverential meeting, several protest gatherings were held in Slovak towns. These changed the political situation in the country. Four suspects were detained, but the investigation has not ended yet. The first charges in this regard are expected in early summer. More than 50 commemorative events are planned for Thursday evening under the motto: We will not forget, we continue. OSCE members held a commemorative event in Vienna on Wednesday, preceding the one year anniversary.
Our whole show today is dedicated to the political, social, as well as cultural aftermath of the tragic event from a year ago. You can find it in the archive.
