Education Minister survives No-confidence vote

Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport Martina Lubyová (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) survived a no-confidence motion in Parliament at an extraordinary session on Monday, as only 43 out of the 105 MPs present voted for her ouster. The opposition wanted to oust the minister over problems surrounding the allocation of subsidies for research and development projects, pointing to copied assessments of projects and an inaccurate points tally. Another problem the opposition cites is the failure to address the European Funds scandal from the summer of 2017. Lubyová has rejected the allegations as an opposition attempt at politicking.
