National Security Office (NBU) director Jozef Magala is tasked with submitting information on the security screening of Special Prosecutor Dušan Kovačik to the parliamentary Special Committee on Supervising Activities of the NBU, at its next session. On Friday the Dennik N daily reported that Kovačik deposited €204,000 cash in his bank account in 2017. He claimed that the money originated from his brother and was to be used to buy a property. According to opposition MP Lubomir Galko, such a deposit is unusual and would have raised suspicion. "That's why the bank reported the transaction to the police, who, however, allegedly failed to investigate anything at first," said Galko. The General Prosecutor's Office would not comment on the case, arguing that it must first wait for the police investigation to end.
