The European Union rejecting the call by US Vice President Mike Pence to withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran and isolate Tehran was the main outcome of the security conference which took place last Friday and Saturday in Munich, Germany. At the conference, the Slovak Foreign Affairs minister Miroslav Lajčák engaged in talks and expert panels on the situation in Ukraine and in the Balkans. Less than a week after the visit by the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Bratislava, Lajčák also held discussions with Fiona Hill, the US President's Adviser and Senior Director of the US National Security Council. Besides speaking about the current state of bilateral cooperation, they also assessed the developments in Ukraine. Lajčák and Hill exchanged views on what steps and activities Slovakia and the US could develop within the OSCE, which Slovakia is currently presiding, to address this as well as other conflicts.
