If the presidential election had been held in early February, Maroš Šefčovič would have garnered 18.2% of the vote. Robert Mistrík would have been second with 15.8%, followed by Zuzana Čaputová with 14.7%. These are the results of a public opinion poll conducted on 8th-12th February by pollster AKO on a sample of 1,000 respondents. Pointing to the results of the survey, candidate Zuzana Čaputová said on Wednesday that she has decided to stay in the race. Earlier this month she suggested she might withdraw from the race in order to support leading democratic candidates if the popularity of anti-system candidate Stefan Harabin continued to rise. In the same poll, 82.3 percent of those surveyed said they would go and vote. The AKO agency claims this was the first survey which included the list of 15 official candidates for President. The first round of the election is set to take place on 16th March.
