The Nitra-based carmaker Jaguar Land Rover wants to fill 850 mainly blue-collar jobs, such as operator, mechanical and electrical engineer, motor mechanic, car electrician, quality inspector and maintenance worker, according to Miroslava Remenarová, a company representative quoted by the TASR press agency. Over 1,500 employees are currently working at the Nitra-based plant. Jaguar Land Rover is launching its second recruitment drive at a time when another two carmakers in Slovakia are slimming down their workforces. Kia Motors Slovakia near Žilina is scrapping 27 posts as of February 1st due to a drop in demand for diesel-fuelled vehicles. Volkswagen Bratislava has announced that it is changing its shift system, going from four shifts to three in the SUV segment, and switching to a single shift for the production of small city cars.
