Robert Fico submits documents to support his Constitutional Court candidacy

The Smer-SD chair, former Prime Minister and currently a Constitutional Court judge candidate Robert Fico submitted additional documents to the Parliament. These should corroborate his 15 years of experience in the legal profession, which is one of the prerequisites for the candidacy. According to the Constitutional Committee member and Opposition MP Miroslav Beblavý, the documents in question are the confirmation from two Slovak universities where Fico gave a political science lecture in the school year 2001-02. However, Beblavý believes that even these documents do not make Fico eligible for the candidacy, as the teaching of a single university lecture as a year-round academic practice is not acceptable. The chair of the Parliamentary Constitutional Committee Róbert Madej (Smer-SD) on the other hand stresses that no one had inquired how many hours even professors teach and what classes. He believes that the opposition is attempting to politicise the issue.
