In December 2018, mainly people from the European Union were working in Slovakia, according to the data from the Labour Ministry. Job applicants from neighbouring countries were most successful on the local labour market and the number of people from third countries decreased in companies in Slovakia. At the end of last year, a total of 2,500 working foreigners were added in Slovakia, including more than 2,200 from European Union countries. On the other hand, the number of people from third countries decreased by nearly 400. Almost 90% of all people who found jobs in Slovakia in December 2018 came from the EU. From third countries, 13,561 Serbs, 11,842 Ukrainians and 915 Vietnamese currently work in Slovakia. As far as EU countries are concerned, especially Czechs, Hungarians, Poles as well as Romanians have found jobs in Slovakia.
