Vladimir Antala will become the new general director of the Slovak National Theatre, due to start his tenure as of Friday, January 25. Culture Minister Lubica Lassakova announced that at a press briefing on Thursday. She appointed Antala directly. The director of the drama ensemble Michal Vajdička voiced his criticism to the fact that no audition had been held, thus undermining the democratic nature of the Slovak National Theatre. Antala was appointed acting director in summer 2018 after the then general director Marián Chudovský was recalled from his position due to financial problems faced by the Theatre. Antala has been the financial director of the Theatre for several years.
