Bratislava has been shortlisted among the 20 most popular tourist destinations in 2019 and is vying for the 2019 European Best Destination title. The vote is conducted by the Brussels based organisation European Best destinations. Bratislava's tourist organisation along with its partners has urged the capital to show the world that Slovakia is a country worth visiting. "We are delighted to see that the negative mood that has accompanied life in Slovakia for some time now hasn't spread to the world. There are people who see the city's positive energy and perceive our capital as an interesting and unconventional destination that is attractive and safe," said the organisation. The 20 shortlisted destinations include Metz (France), Malaga (Spain), Sainte-Maxime (France), Braga (Portugal), Berlin (Germany), Athens (Greece), Florence (Italy), Kotor (Montenegro), Budapest (Hungary), Dinant (Belgium), Monte Isola (Italy), Poznan (Poland), Vienna (Austria), London (UK), Paris (France), Brussels (Belgium), Cavtat (Croatia), Geneva (Switzerland), Riga (Latvia) and Bratislava. People can vote for their best destination until February 5. Last year the title of most trendy European destination went to the Polish city of Wroclaw.
