Slovakia is one of the few countries with a positive trade balance with Germany, however, not in the agro-food sector. A positive trade balance means that exports prevail over imports with a particular country. According to Peter Lizák, the Slovak Ambassador to Germany, the mutual turnover of the countries is at the level of €27 billion, which makes Germany a strategic partner for Slovakia. On the other hand, Milan Lapšanský of the Slovak Agriculture Ministry said that Slovakia imports far fewer agro-food products to Germany than vice versa. Therefore, Slovak producers have a great potential to address their products at the Grüne Woche international trade fair focused on agriculture, horticulture and various food industries, taking place until January 27, in which both Lizák and Lapšanský will take part.
