Number of foreign students grew at Prešov University

The number of foreign students at the fourth largest Slovak University the University of Prešov increased to 750, making up 9% of all people earning their education there. The largest group of foreigners is made up of Ukrainians, followed by Czechs, Poles, Croats, Hungarians, Serbs, Armenians or students coming from Russia, Cameroon, Ethiopia and the USA. According to the University's rector Peter Kónya, the school was the first in Slovakia to obtain accreditation for teaching Roma language and Literature. As Kónya said, this is part of their effort to train future teachers of the Roma language at primary and high schools. As its largest success last year, the university considers the breeding of a new unique variegated Camellia - Lianka and the discovery of a potentially dangerous type of invasive fly called Drosophila Suzukii.
