Czech Finance Minister meets Minister of Transport

Newly-appointed Czech Finance Minister Andrej Babiš, who is of Slovak origin, visited the Slovak Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development and met Jan Počiatek to discuss highways and finance.

“Discussions were wide-ranging, including the potential linking of the two countries with highways, preparations with respect to the new EU-funding period 2014-20, exchange of experience of working in Government, as well as fighting tax evasion,” said ministry spokesperson Martin Kóňa. Babiš said before the meeting that during his visit at the ministry he wanted to find out, for example, about the new highway between Žilina and the Czech city of Třinec. According to Kóňa, ministers at the meeting agreed that Počiatek will in the near future receive his counterparts from Prague - Transport Minister Antonin Prachar and Minister for Regional Development Vera Jourova to discuss possibilities of co-operation in the area of transport and regional development.
