Singer Gombitová to be replaced in Greatest Slovak Poll

The final ten of the Greatest Slovak poll is being changed, as the management of public broadcaster Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS) has decided to meet the request of singer Marika Gombitová, who publicly asked RTVS to eliminate her from the final ten in early January. Gombitová will be replaced in the poll by Jozef Gabčík, who was a Slovak soldier in the Czechoslovak army and involved in the assassination of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich. Gabčík finished 11th in the nomination vote. In her public announcement on Facebook Gombitová stated that she would like to give her spot to someone who might be less known but more important for Slovakia from the historical viewpoint. As of January 9, the public can now cast their votes for Jozef Gabčík. RTVS is Radio Slovakia International's mother company.
