Richard Raši will not be Smer party’s presidential candidate

Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatization Richard Raši (SMER-SD) is not contemplating becoming his party's candidate in the upcoming presidential elections. "I am satisfied at work and I have so much to do that I cannot do anything else," he said in response to a question from a journalist at Monday's news briefing. The strongest party in the governing coalition has repeatedly postponed announcing the name of their presidential candidate. The current Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Miroslav Lajčák, has long rejected his candidacy. This year's presidential elections will take place in March. Incumbent President Andrej Kiska will remain in office until mid-June 2019. He will not run for re-election.
