The Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sports has distributed more than 33.4 million euros to 30 companies for Research and Development projects. However, among successful applicants are also companies that had zero revenues, do not deal with research, reside in an apartment or a family house, or do not have a functioning website. Opposition MP Branislav Gröhling has drawn attention to these irregularities. The ministry claims that the scheme is fully governed by the law on stimuli for Research and Development, and that all conditions defined in the given law were met. However, Gröhling also points out that the backgrounds of several successful companies have raised doubts as to how the subsidy applications were evaluated.
