Prime Ministers of Visegrad Four countries, which are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia met on Wednesday at an extraordinary summit in Budapest to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
Given that Ukraine shares a border with three of the four countries, V4 Prime Ministers agreed on the fact that ending the violent demonstrations is in the best interest of their countries as well. “Things are now serious. Whatever happens in Ukraine concerns us all” stated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Polish Prime Minister Tusk clearly stated that Ukraine should “choose the European path” for itself. Violence can lead to only more violence that does not have any legitimate justification, stated the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. He further expressed concern over the role of radical groups in Ukraine, emphasizing that there cannot be dialogue with such radical groups. Ukraine needs to sort out its internal matters on its own, concluded Slovak Prime Minister Fico.
