After fifteen years, passenger railway transportation has been restored on the southern route from Zvolen to Šahy. There will be a total of 22 trains per working day, 11 in each direction, to help out commuters. As Slovakia's Ministry of Transport and Construction informed on Wednesday, if there is sufficient public interest in this rail service, the service will be extended also to weekends. The rail route may eventually connect Central Slovakia with the Hungarian capital Budapest.
