The Slovak soldiers serving at a NATO-led Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan received on Thursday a traditional Christmas visit from Slovak political representatives. Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš together with the Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini and the Chief of the General Staff Daniel Zmeko brought a Christmas tree, symbolic gifts, as well as materials for a Christmas sauerkraut soup. Currently there are 36 members of the Slovak Armed Forces active in Afghanistan. Their duties include advising Special Forces and aviators, as well as providing support with the medical training of staff officers. Also on Thursday, Minister Gajdoš handed out local humanitarian aid for children from the Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif. This consists of 540 school uniforms for the local children.
