The speaker of the Slovak parliament Andrej Danko disclosed that the first round of the Presidential elections might take place on March 16 and the second round on March 30. However, he will officially announce the dates in January. At the moment, there are more than 10 people who want to join the fight for the Presidential Palace. Incumbent President Andrej Kiska has chosen not to run for re-election. The strongest coalition party SMER-SD has not announced its candidate yet. Candidates must be Slovak citizens with permanent residence in Slovakia and must be aged at least 40.
