As of Monday, a private hospital in the eastern Slovak town of Svidník closed its maternity ward, reported the owner of the Svet zdravia network of hospitals in a press release. On the other hand, the hospital as such will continue operating. The move is aimed at improving the quality of health care and strengthening patient care. Local hospitals such as the one in Svidník will operate following wards: internal medicine, neurology, surgery and an intensive care unit. The Health Ministry considers the worries regarding the future of the hospital to be completely unsubstantiated.
