The Slovak police will strengthen their patrols in places with higher concentrations of people in the run-up to Christmas, stated Interior Minister Denisa Saková in response to Tuesday's (December 11) shooting incident in the French city of Strasbourg. "We've increased the number of patrols in every city, especially in Bratislava, where we've sent several dozen police officers from other regional cities to help us deal with the situation," said Saková, adding that all the measures were of a preventive character. At least three people were killed and 13 others wounded in Tuesday's shooting, which took place close to a popular Christmas market area in Strasbourg. The gunman is still at large, while his motive remains unclear.
