President Andrej Kiska has decided to wait until after Wednesday's Cabinet meeting in order to take a decision regarding Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák's resignation. Lajčák (a Smer-SD nominee) who handed in his resignation last week over Parliament's rejection of the UN Global Migration Pact discussed his position with the President on Tuesday morning. A day earlier Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini tried to persuade Lajčák to change his mind and asked Kiska not to accept the Foreign Minister's resignation. OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger also tried to persuade Slovakia's top diplomat to stay in office in order to lead his country's OSCE Presidency next year.
