Foreign Ministry discusses Ukrainian border blockade

After the meeting of the National Security Analysis Centre, Slovak Interior Minister Denisa Sakova informed about the situation at the Slovak-Ukrainian border crossings. The Maly Berezny-Ubla and Uzzhorod-Vysne Nemecke crossings have been blocked from the Ukrainian side for several days by protesting drivers of small cars with licence plates registered in the EU. In response to the blockade, the Slovak Foreign Ministry on Tuesday initiated a meeting with Ukraine's Ambassador Yuriy Mushka, who stated that he believes that the situation will soon be resolved. According to the Ukrainian authorities, they're attempting to push through changes in the Ukrainian customs laws concerning vehicles registered outside Ukraine. Also discussed with Mushka was the announcement of martial law in Ukraine following a recent incident off Crimea with the Russia's coast guard, which on Sunday opened fire on and seized three Ukrainian vessels. The Ukrainian ambassador said that the martial law doesn't concern foreigners in Ukraine, while the Slovak ethnic minority living in Transcarpathia in the western-most part of Ukraine shouldn't be affected either, as the restrictions are in force only in selected regions.
