Had a general election been held in the autumn of 2018, the highest percentage of first-time voters would have voted in favour of the far-right People's Party Our Slovakia (LSNS), according to a survey carried out by the Youth Council of Slovakia (RMS) in October. "It would have been chosen by 11.7 percent of the respondents, while the Opposition party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) would have been the second most popular on 8.5 percent, followed by OĽaNO on 7.7 percent," said Michal Považan from Youth Council of Slovakia. He added that about a third of young people would like to vote, but they can't find a party representing their interests on the Slovak political scene, so they wouldn't have known whom to vote for or wouldn't have gone to the polling stations. Young women and those who haven't been abroad for any length of time tend to dominate this group of non-voters.
