Jozef Makúch submitted to the Banking Board a notice that he would step down as Slovak Central Bank's Governor on March 1, 2019. According to the media, Makúch should be replaced by the current Finance Minister, Peter Kažimír, on the post of governor of the central bank. The Finance Minister confirmed he will run for this position.
