Robert Fico would have won the first round of presidential elections with 38.8 percent, followed by philanthropist Andrej Kiska on 18.6 percent, according to a poll carried out by the polling agency Median.
Former member of several previous governments Milan Kňažko came third with 12.9 percent, followed by former KDH MP (now Independent candidate) Radoslav Procházka - 9.9 percent, KDH whip Pavol Hrušovský - 5.7 percent, Ordinary People MP Helena Mezenská (running as Independent) - 5.6 percent, ethnic-Hungarian SMK candidate Gyula Bárdos - 2.6 percent, and well-known cardiologist Viliam Fischer - 2.1 percent. KDH founder Jan Čarnogurský, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Peter Osuský, mayor of Rimavská Sobota Jozef Šimko, Stanislav Martinčko, Milan Melník, and Jozef Behýl would all get less than two percent of the vote. The last candidate, Communist Jan Jurista did not receive any votes in the poll. The presidential elections are slated for March.
