The Supreme Court issued a verdict in the case of the so-called Ducký's promissory notes in favour of Cyprus-based letterbox company called Stroden Management Limited. According to SPP spokesperson Ondrej Šebesta, with this SPP loss in the courtroom, Slovakia might lose €30 million. The company will take all legal steps to reverse the unfavourable verdict and defend its interests. In the late 1990s, the then-SPP director Jan Ducký signed a number of promissory notes, originally issued in favour of a Czech firm called Sezooz Group, in an alleged effort to pay for the supply of technologies for the public gas utility. It is unclear how many promissory notes were signed by Ducký and to what amount, as they were not put into the books of the SPP. In 1999, Ducký was murdered by an unknown perpetrator and the case has not yet been resolved.
