Slovakia should accept ten Syrian orphans from refugee camps in Greece, as it can afford such a move economically and it is also in line with its internationally pursued migration policy, said Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák. "It's our voluntary initiative...we have facilities in eastern Slovakia to shelter them," said Lajčák. Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) last month conceded accepting some Syrian orphans, who should not be placed in refugee camps, but in children's homes. However, the initiative was slammed by the co-governing Slovak National Party (SNS) and Opposition party We Are Family.
