Number of University Students dropped in 2017

The number of university students in Slovakia dropped by almost 11,000 individuals year-on-year in 2017. This represents a drop by 7.45%, reads an annual report on the state of university education drawn up by the Education Ministry. The total number of university students reached almost 137,000 last year with almost 59% of them being women. The number of students of other than Slovak nationality increased year-on-year by 8.6% (889 students). Last year, over 46,000 students, around 29,000 of which were women, completed their university studies at public and private universities, representing a year-on-year drop of 10.81% (over 5,600 graduates). The report is to be submitted to the Government in order to be acknowledged by the ministers at an away-from-home session of the Cabinet in Skalica on November 6.
