Slovaks seem to be rather conservative with their money, as they only rarely resort to using the opportunity of getting into the sphere of credit lines in their banking accounts, a survey from the agency 2muse, carried out for Poštová banka, has revealed. "As many as 90 percent of customers are in the black, with the average amount of €2,094 in their accounts, while less than 7 percent take credit," said bank spokesperson Lýdia Žáčková. As for age categories, people aged 21-60 have €2,466 on average in their accounts, while those aged below are far worse off with a mere €331 on average - even when compared to pensioners (€1,939). According to the bank, an optimum financial reserve represents six times of one's monthly salary. "More than half of Slovaks believe that they can afford such a financial cushion. However, most Slovaks in fact don't have the necessary financial reserves," added the bank's spokesperson.
