11 Europol employees receive awards from Slovak Interior Minister

Slovak Interior Minister Denisa Saková has decided to give awards to 11 Europol employees who have significantly contributed towards the investigation into the murders of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová. Selected Slovak and foreign employees of Europol were given the Interior Ministry commemorative medals and honorary plaques in The Hague, the Netherlands, on Thursday. "Nowadays, we can only combat crime by cooperating with individual countries," said the ministry's state secretary Rudolf Urbanovič, who handed over the awards to the Europol employees. Ján Kuciak was an investigative journalist working for the news website Aktuality.sk. He and his fiancée were murdered in their house in Veľká Mača, south western Slovakia, in February with gunshots from a 9 mm pistol.
